The Collegiate 100 Society of the University of Virginia, was founded on November 4, 2011 as an auxiliary unit of the 100 Black Men of Central Virginia, Inc.  The Chapter’s primary goal is to:  

Support the mission of the 100 Black Men of Central Virginia of eliminating the achievement gap with African American males and work toward improving the quality of life in this community through education, mentoring, health and wellness and economic empowerment. There immediate charge is to form a more permanent organization, provide fellowship amongst the membership, support one another in their efforts to nurture and enhance growth, and develop opportunities for young African American males in central Virginia, and serve as valuable role models to the University of Virginia and Charlottesville communities,

Program Overview

There motto is: "what they see, is what they'll be." They  serve as mentors to K-12 African American males in central Virginia public schools, motivating them to achieve.

We each seek to serve as leaders and role models in our community, using the diverse talents of our membership to empower others and create positive change.

And above all, we serve the University and Charlottesville communities, seeking to improve the quality of life and enhance educational opportunities.

Program Results

1.    On November 4, 2011 over 160 parents and community leaders participated in a Charter Day Program on the Campus of the University of Virginia. Eighteen members were inducted into the Chapter. Participants included Executive Board members Tony Jeffreys, Martin Dickerson, and Chapter Presidents Wendell Fuller, and Ray Lucas.  Officers were elected, and a Constitution and bylaws were approved.

2.    Weekly meetings  are now held on a regular basis.
3.    A Black Tie Gala and new member initiation event was held on April 4 on the grounds of UVA.  There were 140 in attendance to include Yale University Professor Rodney Cohen and National Member at Large Marvin Dickerson.
4.    Eight collegiate members attended and worked the Black Tie Gala of 100 BMOCV on March 31.
5.    The mentoring committee is piloting a group mentoring program with 25 high school scholars at Monticello High School.
         a.    Session I, held on February 24, “How to Become an Effective Leader in Today’s Society”.
         b.    Session II, held on March 14, the topic was “The Pursuit of Acdemic Excellence”.
         c.    Session III, held on March 28, the topic was “Networking and Socialization”.
         d.    Session IV,  held on April 1, the topic was, Health: Staying Mentally and Physically Fit”.
         e.    Session V, “UVa Day”, held on April 20 with 15 high school scholars in attendance.
